Travel is a hobby for many people, but only for a few is it a passion. For me, journeying slowly, letting the dust and culture and essence of a new place seep into your skin, is a prerequisite for taking meaningful images. Travelling with a camera forces you to pause, to examine your surroundings in much greater detail and with much greater intensity than perhaps you otherwise would. Watch the sway of each flower in the foreground of your landscape, watch the blink of a bird's eye through the big telephoto, watch the curve of a sealion's tail as it hunts in murky sea: to me this is travel at its most intense.
